Give us a try!

… at Degraaassi Junior High.
Josh recently bought a whole heap of Degrassi Junior High plus Degrassi High I think (And the little movie thing) and it’s so laughable. I bet, had I been a little bit older, I’d have loved it in my teens but as it stands I was a little too young for the show.

Anyway, this is the second time I’ve seen a lot of the episodes (having watched it before on DVD) and wow… why did I ever like Joey Jeremiah? He’s such a freaking pain! He gets everyone into trouble and acts like a loser when he’s not! Snake is definitely where the coolness is at ๐Ÿ˜›

It amazes me how ‘blah’ some of the characters are. Spike is a bitch, Kathleen judges everyone, the twins are so boring (until they get mono heehee) and shy girl doesn’t seem overly shy unless it suits the story line.

I can’t believe it was the beginnings of 90210 (apparently Aaron Spelling or Darren Star or some US network or something wanted to buy the show and the Canadians said a big ‘NO!’, Degrassi probably being one of their bigger exports) it actually kind of stuck to its morals (although I never realised why Caitlin couldn’t do anything just ‘because she has Epilepsy’) and I’m not sure anyone ever had a drug problem.. or not for more than 2 episodes anyway ๐Ÿ˜€

Are you old enough to remember it?
Who was your favourite character?

  1. I never watched those shows. I guess they just didn't interest me. I think that I was old enough to watch them, I just had no desire.

  2. OMG – Degrassi was a show I loved when I watched it as a kid. Now that I've seen some reruns (courtesy of The N), I can't believe I thought that show was cool. *lmao* It really was pretty lame but it still manages to hold a special place in my heart, alongside Kids Inc. and The New Mickey Mouse Club. ๐Ÿ˜€

    *despair

  3. Thanks for the comment!

Oh television madness, I really have no idea what you are talking about with degrassi but my addiction is CSI, Bones and crime dramas of the like. AHHH can't get enough!!

  4. I'm not old enough to remember Degrassi, but my English teacher always made my class watch it in eighth grade, so I've seen enough of it to know that I don't enjoy it ๐Ÿ˜› I just found it really lame xD

  5. Oh wow, Degrassi is quite the throwback. I wasn't old enough for Degrassi, but I did spend the summer watching quite a few re-runs of it a few years ago. From what I remember, it seemed pretty tame compared to most of the shows on today, but I can see it being groundbreaking in it's time.

And the amount of whining that sometimes accompanies those shows? Let's just say that I was one of the ones side-stepping the drama in highschool, so a show that condenses the potential dramatic experiences of ALL north american teenagers into half an hour? Lmao could only be so amusing once I was old enough to laugh at highschool in general. Good times ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. i was a degrassi addict. i liked spike, but kathleen was just horrible. my favourite.. hm. probably wheels. oh. yeah. dunno why. there's you go ^_^
