28 Books in 2008.
I am currently participating in the 28 books in 2008 challenge!

Books read: 22
Books remaining: 6
Currently reading: Confessions of a Neo-milkmaid by a collection of authors
#22. Forged in the Fire
Ann Turnbull
Rating: 5/5
Completed on: 22nd June 2008
How was it?: The sequel to No Shame, No Fear (which I actually read this year but forgot to add it to the list *shrug*). I’ve been waiting so long so it was great to see what happened with Susanna and Will. Lots of suspense! I just had to read and read
#21. That Summer
Sarah Dessen
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 20th June 2008
How was it?: The other part to ‘How to Deal’, I quite liked this one. I really loved Haven and Sumner was so fantastic. It was really great to work out what parts of the book were made into the film adaption.
#20. Someone Like You
Sarah Dessen
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 14th June 2008
How was it?: Even though I recognised the cover of this book from the last time I read it I barely remembered any of the story but it was fun to pick up the pieces that were in How to Deal (word for word some of it). It loses points because Macon didn’t get his happy ending
#19. Gentlemen and Players
Joanne Harris
Rating: 4/5
Completed on: 13th June 2008
How was it?: Gosh, I think Joanne Harris is close on coming one of my favourite authors. This book was so full of deception! I loved it
My last Joanne Harris book allowed in the list now, I’m not sure I’ll read anymore until I’m finished with 28 in 08 mainly because they take so long to read… that being said. It’s definitely worth it.
#18. Gossip Girl: Because I’m Worth It
Cecily Von Ziegesar
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 2nd June 2008
How was it?: Another trip into the lives of the UES. It’s a good outlet when the show is over! My last GG book allowed in this list *cries* I’ll continue to read them anyway though.
#17. Quaker Summer
Lisa Samson
Rating: 4/5
Completed on: 26th May 2008
How was it?: Very religious.. more than I expected and well, not very Quakery
Even though I’m not religious in the slightest is was an interesting read and I was quite capitivated by the quirky main character.
#16. Gossip Girl: All I want is Everthing
Cecily Von Ziegesar
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 19th May 2008
How was it?: I don’t take these books to seriously. I love how they’re set out though, it’s kinda like reading a TV show.
#15. The Sweetest Thing
Fiona Shaw
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 18th May 2008
How was it?: Another read in my Quaker curiousity… not only that it had a Chocolate Factory too. What else could I want as a reader?
#14. The Lollipop Shoes
Joanne Harris
Rating: 5/5
Completed on: 3rd May 2008
How was it?: The ending I wanted from Chocolat! I loved it, so much that I’ve borrowed more Joanne Harris. It was an amazing ready, definitely take a look if you’ve read Chocolat.
#13. The Almost Moon
Alice Sebold
Rating: 2/5
Completed on: 28th Apr 2008
How was it?: I’m still confused after reading this book… the first 3 to 4 chapters where of about a 2 hour period… I nearly didn’t finish it I was so bored! I’m not sure why I even wanted it (I had requested it from the library a few weeks back). Strange, but not in the good way.
#12. Jenny of the Tetons
Kristiana Gregory
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 26th Apr 2008
How was it?: I didn’t know what to expect from this book but it was quite good for what it was… sad though and perhaps a little slow.
#11. Chocolat
Joanne Harris
Rating: 5/5
Completed on: 22nd Apr 2008
How was it?: Gasp, I adored it! I’d seen the movie and always wanted to read the book and although they were different I liked both of them… I wasn’t disappointed in the movie or the book! I like the differences, I couldn’t imagine Roux with red hair though lol, he was always Johnny Depp to me!
#10. Gossip Girl
Cecily VonZiegesar
Rating: 4/5
Completed on: 19th Apr 2008
How was it?: Squeeee! I love Gossip Girl the TV show and decided to give the book a try and I loved it… may have been a bit young but I still loved it… very much like the show I was pleased!! More Chuck though I say!!
Ohh… and poor poor Jenny and her huge boobs!
#9. House of Ghosts
Ann Turnbull
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 18th Apr 2008
How was it?: This one actually gave me a nightmare lol… it’s a young adult book and it’s scaring me! It’s been a while since I’ve read a ghost story and I enjoyed it!
#8. North By Night
Katherine Ayres
Rating: 4/5
Completed on: 11th Apr 2008
How was it?: Adored this story, very my thing… started my strange curiousity about Quakers and ‘Friends’.
#7. Cursed
Michael Panckridge
Rating: 3/5
Completed on: 10th Apr 2008
How was it?: Initially it was really slow. I nearly didn’t read the whole thing but eventually it got more creepy and more likeable
#6. Sykie
John Heffernan
Rating: 2/5
Completed on: 15th Mar 2008
How was it?: Honestly, it’s been so long since I read this book I don’t remember how it was… which is why I started writing down my list
#5. The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy
Douglas Adams
Rating: 5/5
Completed on: 12th Mar 2008
How was it?: It’s been so long since I’ve read this and I can’t work out why I didn’t do it sooner! I adore this book and Douglas Adams for that matter. I can’t get over the great part about the whale
Was very sad to finish this one.
#4. Walking Naked
Alyssa Brugman
Rating: 4/5
Completed on: 18th Feb 2008
How was it?: Amazing book, so sad… points of the how cruel highschool girls can be and what terrible consequences that can have for the outcasts… and so the main character learns
Very good!
#3. Finding Grace
Alyssa Brugman
Rating: 4/5
Completed on: 16th Feb 2008
How was it?: Completely enjoyed this! To the point where I couldn’t put it down and had to MAKE myself go to bed
Very touching story. Really beginning to love this author!
#2. Specials
Scott Westerfeld
Rating: 4/5
Completed on: 15th Feb 2008
How was it?: The end of the trilogy! All very good actually. Sticking it to the man and whatnot
Very good Young Adult Sci Fi
#1. City of Bones
Cassandra Clare
Rating: 3.5/5
Completed on: 13th Feb 2008
How was it?: I quite liked it… there was a twist I didn’t see coming and honestly it upset me… only because it ruined the budding love lol, he’s hot, she’s hot… he’s a zombie loser! Ok, so maybe not but yargh it was depressing but good none the less and I will read the second in the trilogy.
