Mistress
So, you’ve come to read all about me, Kalliste. I have to say, this is a page I’ve dreaded writing the most. It amazes me how much easier it was to write about Lazily and yet I sit here with notepad open wondering just what it is you would like to know about me.
Lets start with the basics. I am 26 and an Australian, I’ve lived in Australia my entire life and rarely travelled. I think I’d like to live elsewhere but the idea of moving suburbs rather than moving countries is daunting.
Currently I work for the ordering team (term used loosely, at the moment I am the team) for an education supplies company. It is a job that really quite suits me. Very little customer interaction and I get to look up and read about books all day. What more could a bookworm want?
Previously, I worked in a call centre doing tech support for the dreaded BigPond (Australia’s biggest and most expensive ISP) dealing with people that are understanding that their service is premium when they spend $30 a month on it. I was there for a tough 5.5 years moving from entry level pleb to supervisor and had the enjoyable job of taking customer complaints (that is actually not sarcasm if you’ll believe it. Unless you’ve worked in a call centre you have no idea how dull the day to day calls are. The complaints are much more fun) and proving them wrong. That was the best part of the day.
So now you can probably determine my character. Bitter, jaded wannabe hermit. Ah yes, I could imagine living day to day in my cave with a bookshelf and nothing else… but this is the real world and only kind of similar to that.
I do love books but I also very much enjoy TV. Much more than movies actually as TV shows are shorter and yet continue on and on. My big loves being Veronica Mars, Arrested Development, Firefly and Lost… with Glee working it’s way up the scale.
Speaking of books, if you know me, you already know I love devouring books, which is why I have my current challenge. I’m getting there and it is a lot of fun getting lost with all these different characters. Although, sometimes I forget who was in which book. Favourite book? Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta. I think it’ll always be that way. Yes, I’ll probably love Young Adult fiction until I’m 72… maybe then I’ll grow up.
Now you know a bit more about me. I don’t want to ramble on any longer but feel free to ask a question if you have one.
