Recipe: Broccoli, Brie and Bacon Trivelle

Recently I stumbled upon Foodgawker and have found so many delicious things I’ve wanted to cook. I can’t believe I didn’t know it existed before now, people are making some amazing things and Foodgawker has all of it! I’ve started trying out a lot more things now because of it. Some have turned out well (like the Cookies and Cream Smoothie) and some not so well (like the 3 ingredient ‘icecream’) but it’s been fun just trying new things all the same.

One of the things I saw was a Broccoli pasta for 2 from Pinch and Swirl that looked interesting and easy. Originally, it had Walnuts in it… I decided to switch these out for Bacon and added a bit of minced garlic which ended up very tasty.

Most times that I’ve made this, I’ve put the Brie in a bit earlier and let it get all gooey and mix in with the other ingredients but this time around left it to later and didn’t allow it to melt quite as much. I think it had more flavour this way, even though I used less cheese than previous times.

The best thing about this recipe is that you can prep it all while your pasta is cooking. I place my pasta and water in the bottom of my steamer and steam the Broccoli on top which works fairly well.

  1. What a simple and quick recipe. My favorite kind haha. I don’t like broccoli so I don’t think I will be trying out this dish though.

  2. Wow the food looks so nice! The smoothie that you linked looks and sounds freaking amazing and easy to make. Your pasta picture is making me hungry again even though it’s like 9:30pm right now. Sometimes I wish I can cook well, instead of being a total klutz in the kitchen :S.

  3. That looks delicious!!! I’ve never had brie in something cooked before (only on crackers and apples, etc…) but this looks like it’s really creamy and delicious!
And for me anything with bacon usually peaks my interest, too, hehe. Well done!

  4. Ahhh I totally love this plugin you used so I installed it myself. hahah it’s so great. I haven’t really surfed around Foodgawker much, but I’m pretty sure there are tons of things that’d make you drool all over your keyboard. Try allrecipes.com too! This recipe looks really good! I’d probably substitute the bacon with walnuts since I don’t eat meat though ahah.

I feel like a lot of ice cream recipes tell you to add way too much sugar & it’s really unnecessary if you’re working with chocolate or something. Or when you’re making sorbet with fruit. No sugar is really needed…fruits have such an abundant amount of fructose, the syrup they instruct you to use is unnecessary!

I have a layout comment to add in. In my browser (Google Chrome), your main content area is hidden & forces me to scroll all the way to the right to see the rest of what you’ve written (basically it’s way too wide) & then your sidebar moves too. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not, but it’s throwing me all kinds of off! haha because when I scroll to the right, the rest of your content area disappears behind your sidebar. Anyway, that is all!

  5. Oh, wow! That’s such a great website. I might have to find something and cook something for dinner one night, and surprise my parents. ๐Ÿ˜› They’d probably really appreciate it. I might even try this one, however I wouldn’t include bacon since I have this thing where I don’t eat pork. :B A quirk, I suppose.

  6. Wow that looks absolutely delicious! I’m definitely going to have to try that one out. <333 And the bacon was a nice touch for sure! I made a mac and cheese cassarole last night (yeah I know, obviously not overly exciting ahahaha) and I added BACON. Which immediately makes it awesome. Obvi. =)

    • It’s similar in flavour and texture to camembert. It has a harder white ‘shell’ and inside it’s all gooey and delicious ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It’s called Recipe Card by Yumprint.. I had to go find it ๐Ÿ˜› I thought it was called YumPrint.. oh well ๐Ÿ˜€
It’s really good, very customisable, the only down side is that if you want to save the recipes you have to sign up for an account.
