All Grown Up

If you have been following my 210 of Twenty Ten you’ll know I’ve been indulging in a bit of Kate Brian’s Private series. A few weeks ago I noticed that my local library’s collection of Private was coming to an end and I would have to sort something out. This is when I found Kate Brian’s other series Privilege. It’s a spin off of Private based on Ariana Osgood (I didn’t know books did spin offs!) and my has she grown up! And gone a little bit wacky in the mean time.
I’m not even sure I like the idea. By the end of it I kind of felt like it was Private all over again just with a different (but just as annoying) main character. Which is sad, because I quite liked Ariana in Private.

Inside, I wonder whether this is what Kate Brian had been wanting to write. It is like a trashy soapie when they run out of ‘normal’ ideas. Murder, blackmail, switched identities! It has it all.

In fact, if I’m honest, it was a bit disappointing. I just want run of the mill stuff at this point. Private has so much chaos and drama things never calm down. I wanted the rehab of Ariana and new views but it wasn’t to be. It seemed like Private’s target audience has grown up and Brian is moving with them. They even say ‘fuck’ in this book! *gasp* What will she think of next?
