Now is no time to hyperventilate

My last day is over. It is only the 2nd time in my life that I have resigned from a job (which isn’t saying much considering I’m about to start the 4th one) and I felt very strange and unsure what to do and there was lots of hugging or awkward should we or should we not hug moments. Generally, I went with the negative in those moments.

My favourite boys (well, men but whatever) in the warehouse made me a lovely, heart felt card, although I kind of demanded they make it. Isn’t it lovely? It is all the things that affected me in the day to day. There are things on the front and back too but I liked the middle the most. Not only that, but they bestowed the much contributed too rubber band ball. To put this into perspective, it is larger than a softball. It has much love and effort in it.

So, perhaps it wasn’t my desk I missed the most. Although, I did say goodbye to my computer and farewell to all the browser history I had to hastily delete. Perhaps, it was the people that I will miss the most. I will, after all, have another desk to sit at and hope that they let me use Google Chrome (and that there is unlimited internet! Which, alas, I doubt) but I will be the loner girl in the break room and the one looking on in confusion at the in-jokes that are told. I’ll have to break in to a new group of people again and probably think how much they all suck initially ๐Ÿ˜€

It is strange to think that these people are no longer colleagues (or ex-colleagues as one of my… ex-colleagues used to say) but… friends? I have to say I’ve never kept a friend from a job I have finished but these people will probably change that. It seems that way right now anyway.

  1. Good luck with the new job. I’m sure you will find a group of people to talk to faster than you think. I find people try to make you feel at home if you are new.

  2. Good luck at your new job. ๐Ÿ™‚

I know what you mean.. about being the loner in the lunch room. I’m still finding it hard to settle in here, there are about 15 people who I see everyday, and the only ones I get on with are my 2IC who is from Chillie, and his girlfriend, who is the 2IC of the other farm. (3 farms on my island).

With the other people, we have our moments, but not ALL the time. BUT I think it’s because I don’t drink and do things they do. I feel I am not cool enough. ๐Ÿ˜›

But I think you will settle in. You seem like a really nice person, and I’m sure you’ll get all the “in-jokes” fast. Even I get the jokes here.. I just don’t laugh as loudly.:P

    Good luck. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Good luck! I like that card they made you, that’s something that one dosen’t see often, especially when changing jobs. I’m sure you will fit in nicely at your new one. ๐Ÿ™‚
Mine consists of taking care of kids, and you know, I’m dreading it, but my “boss” feels I have enough credentials, yet she told me I’m more of a homebody type…that didn’t sit to well with me, but whatever, she’s paying me so…anyway, I don’t know if I want to take care of kids for long. Like you posted in my last entry about not being a kid person, I am starting to wonder if I am…I don’t think I am as much as I thought. :\

  4. Good luck with moving on to a new job! It always feels weird to me to leave a job, like I’m leaving an entire world behind. It’s great that you’re walking away from this job with friends.

  5. Good luck at your new job! My mom left hers recently where she had worked for over a year, and it was hard for her because she had become really good friends with a lot of the people she worked with. She also isn’t as happy at her new job, but I hope you won’t have that problem!

It was so nice of the guys at your work to make you a card, and the rubber band ball is quite impressive! xD

I hope you can manage to keep the friends you made at your job, and hopefully you’ll get along just as well with the people at your new job too. ๐Ÿ™‚
